Heavy rains on Hida region causes landslides in Gifu prefecture Gero City

According to the Gifu Regional Meteorological Observatory, on the 29th in the Hida region, heavy rain fell over 200 millimeters of total rainfall from the start of falling. As a result of this influence, landslides occurred in Gifu Prefecture Gero city, and earth and sand flowed into the JR railway line, so we stopped driving between Gero Takayama station and Takayama station.

Gero city, 293 households were evacuated at one time, Evacuation recommendations were also issued in Takayama city in Gifu Prefecture and Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture.

In Gero city of Gifu prefecture, the slope of the mountain collapsed due to heavy rain falling on the 29th, and earth and sand flowed into the track of JR Takayama line. Restoration work is being done from 30th morning.

Total rainfall from the beginning of falling in Hagiwara Town in Gero City recorded 275.5 mm. The slope of the mountain collapsed over a height of 100 meters, and evacuation instructions are now given to 50 surrounding households.
The residents of the surrounding area: “All the earth and sand is in the kitchen, bathroom, and toilet, this is the first time for me.”
JR Takayama Line is an express train with wide view folds between Gero station and Takayama station, and regular trains are Hidaagihara station And Hida Hosaka station all day, they temporarily stopped their trips until restoration and removal of obstructed railways is done.
