Harajuku received its initial international recognition through Gwen Stefani and with her solo album, “Love, Angel, Music, Back” in 2004.  From then on, this Japanese fashion style gained worldwide appreciation and Harajuku fashion lines, fragrances, and accessories became available in numerous countries around the world. Harajuku has helped recognize street fashion and casual style through various places. Hence, it is not surprising that celebrities around the world are also catching up with Harajuku fashion too. Here are some popular international celebrities who were at one point in time connected with this kind of Japanese fashion.

As one of the most popular performer revered by millennials, Katy Perry donned Harajuku fashion when she visited Japan during her Prismatic World Tour. She wore a fun face mask and matched it up with pig tails, pair of loafers, and white ankle socks.  She also dressed up into a school girl inspired dress that includes a kilt and white shirt.

Eccentricity is one of the trademark of Harajuku or Omotesando fashion; thus, it is expected that this Japanese fashion would pique the interest of fashionista performers like Lady Gaga. According to fashion reports, her favorite street fashion shop in Harajuku is Dog.  She wears Dog style and fashion on stage and even offstage.  The report further added that even celebrities like Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Rihanna, and LMFAO are also Dog fans.

International British Muslim blogger Noor is considered as one of the trendsetters when it comes to Harajuku fashion. She merged traditional hijab (Muslim women traditional wear) and Harajuku fashion. In particular, she gained fans by holding an affinity with the “Lolita” type of Harajuku fashion.
