AIRLINES: New rules

MOBILE BATTERY, HAIR IRON NOW PROHIBITED
The rapid increase in “confiscation” of mobile batteries and hair irons: What you didn’t know about the rules prohibiting carry-on baggage

With the recovery in demand for domestic and international travel, the number of personal belongings being “confiscated” at security checkpoints before boarding at airports is rapidly increasing. At Kansai International Airport’s Terminal 2 (T2), lighters are the most common item confiscated, averaging over 240 per day.

Although the rule restricting lighters to be brought on board is intended to ensure safety, the number of hair irons, a necessity for some women, is also increasing, and the airport is struggling to cope with the situation.
