CHIBA: Man Arrested for Road Rage

A 49-year-old man has been arrested in Chiba Prefecture for a dangerous road rage incident that took place in March. Dashcam footage captured the suspect, Yoichi Mitsui, repeatedly harassing another driver on a national highway in Tomisato City.
The suspect, driving a small car, cut into the right lane abruptly and stopped suddenly, nearly causing a collision. As the victim tried to pass, Mitsui swerved again, blocking the road and forcing another abrupt stop. At a red light, the suspect positioned his car sideways to block the other driver and appeared to glare at him menacingly.
Even after driving away, Mitsui reversed in the middle of an intersection in an apparent attempt to intimidate the victim. The road rage escalated when he made a sudden U-turn and drove the wrong way directly toward the victim’s car.
The aggressive behavior continued for about 300 meters before the suspect drove off. Authorities identified and arrested Mitsui on May 9 for violating traffic laws. The incident has raised renewed concerns over road safety and aggressive driving in Japan.
