JAPAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AGENCY:
BEWARE OF CERTAIN CORONAVIRUS PREVENTION PRODUCTS!!!
March 10, 2020, the Japan Consumer Affairs Agency using Twitter and Facebook posted a warning to the general public regarding the purchase of at least 46 products from 30 companies that claim to prevent COVID-19 infection through internet advertising using false claims like “effective in preventing new coronaviruses”.
According to the Consumer Affairs Agency, BEWARE of the following product categories:
1. Health foods supplements that claim to prevent infection
2. Minus ion generator devices
3. Wearable sanitizers that “clean the air of virus” like badges and necklaces
According to the agency, at this time, these products show no evidence to support the effects on the new coronavirus.
The Agency also urged these companies to follow the FAIR LABELING LAW (to avoid misrepresentation of products) and the HEALTH PROMOTION LAW (to avoid false and exaggerated claims on food products).
Please beware!
