FAKE AI NEWS PROGRAM: BE CAUTIOUS!
A video of a fake advertisement resembling a commercial news program, which is believed to have reproduced the voice and movements of a real announcer using a generative AI, is spreading on social networking sites. The fake video encourages people to register for an investment information site, which created the fake video resembling the program, and NIHON TEREBI, is calling for caution.
The fake video features a real female announcer urging people to register for an investment information site and to invest, and the voices and movements of the actors are reproduced as if it were a news program.
The video is believed to be based on an actual NIHON TEREBI news program broadcasted in the past, and part of the audio and video were processed using a generative AI.

Although the fake video had some suspicious points, such as different intonation and reading of numbers, it is possible to create videos that seem to be spoken by real people using generative AI, and recently the number of videos in which facial expressions and mouth movements match the voices and do not seem out of place has been increasing, raising concerns that it will be difficult to detect them as fakes. YouTube is believed to have removed the fake video for violating its guidelines, and NIHON TEREBI has also issued a warning on its website, stating, “Although video advertisements have been posted on our website that alter our programs and promotes investment, we are not involved in any way nor do we endorse such advertisements.
