Filipino e-gamer finishes second in Japan Tekken 7 tournament

Japan, Fukuoka – Filipino e-gamer, Alexandre Laverez, known by his in-game-name (IGN) PBE|AK, finished second in the Evolution Championship Series: Japan Tekken 7 tournament held in Fukuoka, Japan.
Laverez was named “Worthy Adversary” to “Supreme Champion” Pakistan’s Arslan Ash (IGN: Arslan_Ash).
Laverez, dubbed as the country’s “Tekken prodigy”, took home the 600,000-yen cash prize.
There were 512 participants, who joined the tournament.
EVO: Japan is a worldwide fighting game tournament “which has shared the same visions and philosophy of original EVO,” according to its official website.
The international tournament was held from February 15 to 17 at the Fukuoka Convention Center.
“Thank you PlayBook Video Game Lounge and Bookshop for giving me the opportunity to be here at Evo Japan 2019,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
PlayBook Esports team — an elite group of professional gamers — for their part, congratulated Laverez for his achievement.
