KIDAPAWAN CITY – Four people, including a pregnant woman, died after fire gutted their ancestral house in Arakan, North Cotabato before dawn on Wednesday.
Senior Fire Officer Ronald Valle, Bureau of Fire Protection – Arakan chief, named the victims as Ronie Monteser, 44; his pregnant daughter Mary Jane, 19; her live-in partner Rienheart Carugda; and their daughter Andrea, 1.
Valle said the victims were asleep when fire broke out at around 1:45 a.m. in the house made of light materials.
The fire also burned a motorcycle parked in the property, causing an explosion which further fueled the fire.
Damage was estimated by BFP-Arakan at P60,000.
Valle said investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, four other fire incidents occurred in Kabacan, Cotabato on Tuesday.
One of these incidents damaged a drug store.
Damage was pegged at P3 million.
Fire also broke out at a canteen inside the University of Southern Mindanao campus in Kabacan at around 9 p.m.
The canteen was razed to the ground.
BFP officials are still investigating the fire incidents. —Source :KG, GMA News
