PHILIPPINES: Foreign Gov’ts, Handang Tumulong sa mga Lugar na Tinamaan ng Bagyong ‘Odette’

Nagpahayag ng kahandaan ang United Kingdom, China, Canada, at European Union (EU) na tumulong sa bansa kasunod ng pananalasa na iniwan ng Bagyong Odette sa ilang lalawigan sa Visayas at Mindanao.

Sinabi ni UK Ambassador to the Philippines Laure Beaufils noong Biyernes ng gabi na mahigpit na sinusubaybayan ng kanilang embahada ang sitwasyon at “nakahanda na tumulong.”

“The United Kingdom stands in solidarity with all those affected by Typhoon Odette in the Philippines and we extend our deepest condolences in particular to those who have lost loved ones,” aniya.

Sinabi ni Chinese Ambassador Huang Xilian na handa rin ang Beijing na mag-alok ng tulong para matulungan ang mga apektadong pamilya na manatiling nakalutang “sa diwa ng Bayanihan .”

“Saddened to learn that Typhoon Odette has devastated and caused severe damages to families in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. We stand in solidarity with all affected Filipino families in facing this challenge,” aniya.

Sinabi ni Canadian Ambassador Peter MacArthur na ang kanyang embahada ay nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga kasosyo nito sa Pilipinas.

“Canada stands with those affected by Typhoon Odette. We are in contact with our Philippines partners and are ready to assist. Conveying our sympathies to those injured and who may have lost family members, homes, and livelihoods,” aniya sa isang tweet.

Samantala, nagpaabot naman ng pakikiramay ang EU Delegation sa Maynila sa mga pamilya ng mga nasawi.

“The EU stands in solidarity with the government and Filipinos affected by ‘Odette’, especially the Visayas and Mindanao. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased,” sabi nito.

“EU ECHO (European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations) is monitoring the situation. As in the past, we stand ready to assist,” dagdag nito.

Iniulat ng Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) na ang “Odette” ay bumagal habang kumikilos pakanluran-hilagang-kanluran patungo sa Kalayaan Islands noong 2 am nitong Disyembre 18.

Naiulat ang matinding pinsala sa rehiyon ng Visayas at ilang probinsya sa Mindanao kasunod ng pananalasa ng bagyo.

Batay sa ulat ng sitwasyon noong Disyembre 17 ng National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), may kabuuang 11,859 pamilya o 41,434 indibidwal ang naapektuhan ng bagyo sa 249 na barangay sa mga rehiyon ng Bicol, Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, at Caraga.

Samantala, pinuri naman ni Japanese Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa ang mga “brave first responders” sa nagpapatuloy na disaster relief at recovery operations sa lugar.

Nagpadala rin ng saloobin ang Irish Embassy sa Maynila sa mga apektadong pamilya.

“The Embassy of Ireland has been shocked by the level of devastation to date caused by Typhoon Odette. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families of those who tragically lost their lives, and with all the people affected by this disaster,” sabi nito .

Ipinaabot din ni Australian Ambassador Steven Robinson ang kanyang pakikiramay sa mga naapektuhan ng “Odette”.

“In partnership with the Philippine Red Cross, we have released pre-positioned emergency supplies, and are continuing to work with the Philippines on further options to help,” aniya nitong Sabado
