SEPT. 23, 2022: Japan Reports 63,871 New Coronavirus Cases

Japan on Friday reported 63,871 new coronavirus cases.
The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 7,559 new cases, down 1,291 from Thursday.
The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is 16, down one from Thursday, health officials said. The nationwide number is 262, down 14 from Thursday.
Other prefectures reporting high numbers were;
- Osaka (4,930)
- Kanagawa (4,674)
- Saitama (3,924)
- Aichi (3,630)
- Chiba (3,536)
- Hokkaido (3,164)
- Hyogo (2,509)
- Fukuoka (2,030)
- Hiroshima (1,954)
- Ibaraki (1,677)
- Shizuoka (1,665)
The number of coronavirus-related deaths was 87.
