SMUGGLING SAUSAGES: Filipina arrested
A 42-year-old Filipino woman was arrested for smuggling processed beef and pork products, which are banned from the Philippines.
The suspect, Mito Christine Aimee Uao, an unemployed Filipino national, was arrested on suspicion of violating the Livestock Infectious Disease Prevention Act.
Mito is suspected of smuggling about 100 kilograms of sausages and other products made from beef and pork in the Philippines to Fukuoka Airport.
According to the police, the import of beef and pork is prohibited except in some countries and regions such as the United States.
The suspect, Mito, has admitted to the police that she is guilty of the crime.
