WBO World Superfly Champion Ioka has warned about obvious tattoos
The Japan Boxing Commission said, after tattoos on his left arm were noticeable during his successful second title defense on New Year’s Eve, WBO world super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka was punished.
The ethics committee of the commission voted to give Ioka and the chairman of his gym, Takuya Kiya, a stern notice.
JBC rules prohibit the presence of fighters in a “manner that will make spectators feel uncomfortable” and that requires tattoo show. The controversy was sparked when after the base he had applied to cover them up flaked off during the war, Ioka’s tattoos became noticeable.
Tsuyoshi Yasukochi, secretary general of the JBC, said. “We would like to consider the possibility of using a masking agent in such cases. We are not thinking of changing the rules at this time,”
