YAKINIKU FOOD POISONING BY NOROVIRUS
Yokohama City Public Health Center has banned the business of a major yakiniku chain restaurant, Gyukaku, after more than 20 people complained of vomiting, diarrhea, and other symptoms.

According to the Yokohama City Public Health Center, 21 out of 49 school officials in the city complained of symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and fever after having dinner at “Gyukaku Yokohama Mu Building Branch” located in Yokohama City’s Nishi Ward on March 7.

All 21 were teenage males, and norovirus was detected. The symptoms were mild.

They were eating all-you-can-eat barbeque meat and vegetables.
No norovirus was detected among the employees who cooked the food.

The public health center banned the restaurant from operating on November 15, and is investigating the detailed cause of the food poisoning.
