FIRED: 18-Year-Old Drunk Driving Firefighter

The Tokachi Wide-Area Firefighting Union announced on January 13 that an 18-year-old firefighter was dismissed from his position on the same day after he was caught by the police driving a car after drinking alcohol.

According to the union, the firefighter drank alcohol with friends at a restaurant in Obihiro City from the night of August 11 to 12, and then drove a private car parked in a nearby parking lot.

At around 1:50 a.m. on August 12, police found the man driving without lights on near Higashi 3-jo Minami 11-chome, Obihiro City, and upon taking a breathalyzer test, they found alcohol exceeding the limit, and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
