Major Earthquake Strikes Kumamoto

At least 11 people are dead and many more are feared trapped beneath rubble after a 7.3-magnitude earthquake hit the southern Japanese city of Kumamoto.

NHK reported that 760 people are being treated in hospital, while almost 200,000 homes are without power.

The quake hit at 1.26am on Saturday (local time) – barely 24 hours after a 6.2 quake hit the same area.
