Runners support LGBT rights at Tokyo Rainbow Marathon

Japan, Tokyo –Hundreds of people joined a charity run to promote awareness about diverse sexuality and to support sexual minorities under a bright blue sky in Tokyo on March 2.
The first Tokyo Rainbow Marathon was held at Showa Kinen Park, which straddles the western Tokyo cities of Tachikawa and Akishima.
A total of 479 runners, of different ages and including non-Japanese citizens, took part in such events as a half marathon, a 10-kilometer run and a 5-km run.
Rainbow flags, the symbol of the rights of sexual minorities, were flying at the venue.
