ANN conducted a nationwide survey on forced sterilization surgery. As a result, it was revealed that there are about 3,400 records linked to individuals who seemed to have undergone surgery.
Surveys were conducted in such ways as listening to each prefecture. As a result, it was a person who was judged as “suitable” to be subjected to infertility surgery or surgery, and 3402 documents were left in 21 prefectures, which lead to the identification of individuals. Among them, a 13 – year – old girl in Hiroshima Prefecture was also targeted for infertile surgery as “it is highly likely that it will be subject to sexual desire of a molester.” On the other hand, surgery-related data was discarded in more than half of the prefectures, for reasons such as the retention period being over. Up to now, in the summary of the country, it is said that the mandatory sterilization surgery was performed at 16,475 cases, but there was no record to identify individuals. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare plans to start a nationwide survey next month to grasp the actual condition.
