393 cases of coronavirus have been identified in Tokyo; 1,7922 cases nationally.
On Monday, the Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 393 new coronavirus cases, down 240 from Sunday. It was the first time since Dec 21, when 392 cases were registered, that the capital figure fell below 400.
The number (199 females and 194 males) is the product of 6,400 tests performed on 29 January.
Health officials said the number of infected individuals hospitalized with serious symptoms in Tokyo is 133, down seven from Sunday. 975 is the nationwide number.
The number of confirmed cases nationally was 1,792. After Tokyo, Kanagawa (221), Chiba (192), Osaka (178), Saitama (159), Aichi (80), Hokkaido (76), Kyoto (63), Fukuoka (63), Hyogo (60) and Okinawa were the prefectures with the most incidents (35).
Nationwide, there were 72 confirmed coronavirus-related deaths.
