633 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Tokyo; 26722 cases nationwide

On Sunday, the Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 633 new coronavirus cases, down 136 from Saturday.

The number (343 males and 290 females) is the product of 11,215 tests performed on 28 January.

The largest number of cases by age group is in their 20s (122), followed by 93 in their 40s, 89 in their 50s, 77 in their 70s, 76 in their 30s, 62 in their 80s and 38 in their 60s. Also, health officials said, 52 cases were younger than 20 (25 of which were younger than 10).

In Tokyo, the number of infected individuals hospitalized with serious symptoms is 140, down one from Saturday, health officials said. 973 is the nationwide number.

The number of confirmed cases nationally was 2,672. After Tokyo, Kanagawa (390), Saitama (243), Osaka (214), Chiba (212), Fukuoka (127), Aichi (121), Hyogo (111), Hokkaido (104), Kyoto (76), Ibaraki (63), Gunma (61) and Okinawaa were the prefectures with the most incidents (39).

There have been 65 coronavirus-related deaths recorded nationwide.
