78-year-old woman arrested after attempting to hammer her son to death

Police arrested a 78-year-old woman in Suzaka, Nagano Prefecture, on suspicion of attempted murder after striking her 51-year-old son on the back of his head with a hammer multiple times.
Nagako Koyanagi, according to the police, assaulted her son when he was visiting her at her home at about 6 p.m. The Sankei Shimbun reported on Sunday. Police said that the victim was taken to a hospital and that his condition was not life-threatening.
Police said that Koyanagi admitted to assaulting her son, but has given no motive so far. At the time, her husband was still home and police are interviewing him about any trouble between mother and son there might have been.
