868 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Tokyo; 3,534 nationally.
On Friday, the Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 868 new coronavirus cases, down 196 from Thursday.
The number (445 males and 423 females) is the product of 10,606 tests performed on 26 January.
The majority of cases, by age group, were in their 20s (172), followed by 140 in their 30s, 112 in their 40s, 119 in their 50s, 82 in their 60s, 79 in their 70s, and 71 in their 80s. Health officials have reported that 61 cases were younger than 20 (20 of which were younger than 10).
Health officials said the number of infected individuals hospitalized with serious symptoms in Tokyo is 147, down three from Thursday. 1,014 is the countrywide number.
The number of confirmed cases nationally was 3,534. After Tokyo, Kanagawa (385), Osaka (346), Chiba (339), Saitama (256), Aichi (164), Hyogo (161), Hokkaido (111), Kyoto (89), Ibaraki (86), Okinawa (63), Tochigi (44), Gunma (41) and Shizuoka (41) were the prefectures with the most numbers (38).
Nationwide, the number of deaths registered was 79.
