As Of May 07, 2022: Tokyo Reports 3,809 New Coronavirus Cases; Osaka 4,192

The Tokyo metropolitan government on Saturday reported 3,809 new coronavirus cases, up 1,128 from Friday and up 830 from last Saturday. Osaka had the highest number of new infections with 4,192.

The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo is eight, down unchanged from Friday, health officials said. The nationwide figure is 165, down five from Thursday.

Nationwide, the number of reported cases was 39,327. Osaka Prefecture was followed by Tokyo, Aichi (2,659), Okinawa (2,375), Fukuoka (2,209), Hokkaido (2,112), Kanagawa (1,661), Hyogo (1,650), Saitama (1,398), Chiba (1,049), Hiroshima (964), Kagoshima (928), Kyoto (884), Shizuoka (796), Gifu (766), Kumamoto (736), Okayama (688), Tochigi (638), Nagasaki (578), Miyagi (538), Nagano (537), Gunma (501), Fukushima (499), Saga (495), Oita (466), Miyazaki (464), Niigata (431), Kagawa (403), Mie (390), Aomori (356), Ehime (353), Ibaraki (348), Shiga (345), Akita (329), Kochi (291), Yamaguchi (277), Wakayama (273), Ishikawa (272), Iwate (270), Fukui (235), Yamagata (201) and Toyama (184).

The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 27.
