As of September 11,2021: Tokyo Reports 1,273 Coronavirus Cases; Nationwide Tally 8,807
The Tokyo metropolitan government on Saturday reported 1,273 new coronavirus cases, up 31 from Friday and 1,089 down from last Saturday. It is the 20th straight day that the daily figure has been lower than the same day of the previous week.
The average for Tokyo over the past seven days stands at 1,496.3.
People in their 20s (317 cases) and their 30s (253) accounted for the highest numbers, while 260 cases were aged under 20.
The number of infected people hospitalized with severe symptoms in Tokyo was 233, down 10 from Friday, health officials said. The nationwide figure was 2,057, down 68 from Friday.
Nationwide, the number of reported cases as of 6 p.m. was 8,807. After Tokyo, the prefectures with the most cases were Osaka (1,263), Aichi (970), Kanagawa (862), Saitama (780), Hyogo (507), Chiba (429), Fukuoka (378), Okinawa (270), Kyoto (199), Hokkaido (156), Gifu (153), Ibaraki (140), Shizuoka (134) and Hiroshima (110).
The number of coronavirus-related deaths reported nationwide was 56.
The daily tally in the capital was lower than the level seen the week before for the 20th straight day.
Tokyo also reported 17 deaths linked to the coronavirus. The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients under the metropolitan government’s criteria fell by 10 from Friday to 233.
The seven-day average of new cases in Tokyo came to 1,496.3, compared to 2,724.7 a week earlier.
Across Japan, 8,895 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, the first daily tally below 10,000 in four days.
The country reported 2,125 severely ill COVID-19 patients, down by 48 from Thursday, and 69 deaths.
