EXPLOSION and Electrocution Near Parked Shinkansen

According to the Saitama City Fire Department, at around 2:48 p.m., a resident near a parked Shinkansen train in Saitama City called 119 to report that a person was on fire due to an electric shock.

A JNN cameraman who was covering the area heard an explosion at this time, and firefighters and others went to the scene to check the situation.

According to the police, two workers who were working on restoration near the stopped Shinkansen train were injured. They are believed to have been electrocuted.

According to the fire department, a man in his 50s was seriously injured and a man in his 40s slightly injured.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
