Record rainfall in Kyushu region leaves destruction and several isolated villagers. In Kagoshima prefecture, landslides occurred in 34 sites. In the city of Ono, a sliding killed Yamashita Matie (85) who lived in a house buried by mud that slided down the mountain. In Miyazaki prefecture, Miyakonojo, land and mud blocked the road, isolating 6 residences.
The Meteorological Agency warns that the slopes in the southern part of Kyushu Island is a high-risk area because of the high amount of water infiltrated.
Heavy clouds are expected to continue to bring more water.
