Aichi: Paskong Pinoy

“Paskong Pinoy”, a Filipino Christmas celebration event was held last Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Kariya Industrial Promotion Center, Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture. With more than one thousand seven hundred attendees, Paskong Pinoy may be considered as one of the most well-attended Christmas events in Aichi in history. This event showcased several distinct aspects of Philippine Christmas tradition such as singing of Christmas carols, making of Christmas lanterns (parol) and offering donations to the victims of the recent Marawi War in Mindanao, Philippines.

The event was a consistent, non-stop mash-up of entertainment from singing, street dancing, lantern contest, kids play corner and the comedy routines delivered by the emcees. But the highlight of the event were from the performances of the guests from Philippine showbiz, from personalities such as Arnell Ignacio, Jimmy Bondoc, Niel De Mesa, and Alynna Velasquez. Most cheered and most awaited performance was from one of the Philippine heart-throbs of the 90’s, Mr. Cesar Montano, who is now holding the position as the Department of Tourism (DOT) Tourism Promotions Board Chief Operating Officer.

The core organizers were headed by Mr. Leo Perez, Dr. Juvy Oliva S. Rusiana and Tito O. Lara. And also Aim Global members, volunteers and the Filipino community of Shizuoka and Toyohashi who made the event possible. Special thanks too to all sponsors for their support: 1) Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCor) and, 2) Friends of Rody Duterte (FoRD). Congratulations to all and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
