In Japan, Burger King launches new Plant-Based Whopper
It can be difficult to find decent meat-free menu choices while dining out in Japan compared to a lot of western countries. That’s slowly changing, though, and with the announcement that they will introduce a Plant-Based Whopper for a limited time at their branches around the country, Burger King is leading the way.
The fast food chain claims it’s been making hamburgers containing 100-percent vegetable patties through a process of trial and error for the past two years. With the Plant-Based Whopper, which includes pickles, onion, tomato, and lettuce on a 100% vegetable patty, they eventually came upon perfection.
The new burger is said to have the distinct Burger King flavor fans love, finished off with ketchup and creamy mayonnaise, and sandwiched between two toasted sesame buns, as it uses the same open-flame grilling process used by other burgers in the chain.
The new Plant-Based Whopper is available for a limited period of time only. The new menu offering is only made in limited quantities and priced at 590 yen for the burger and 890 yen for a package of medium-sized fries and a drink, so once supplies are gone, they will also vanish from the menus.
This latest Whopper certainly tempted us to check out the Burger King real estate site after wowing us with their chip-filled Fake Burger, and their first-ever burger with no buns, which is currently helping fans eat burgers for breakfast, lunch and dinner by setting them up in an apartment near one of their locations.
